At the Gates – Non-Divine
R.I.P. Tomas Lindberg
I looked at a bunch of my older Track of the Day entries and noticed how I used to write a lot more text for the entries. I wanna try doing that again more.
Non-Divine feels like a should that never once stops to catch it's breath and that's what I like so much about it.
I listened to With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness again due to At the Gates releasing remastered CDs of Terminal Spirit Disease, The Red in the Sky is Ours and With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness. I already own With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness on CD, so naturally I had to order Terminal Spirit Disease and The Red in the Sky is Ours (and the Full Dynamic Range Remaster of Slaughter of the Soul for good measure).
Listening to With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness again while writing this I noticed I like the sound of my CD of it a lot more than the version I can listen to on Deezer. If that's because I can distinguish between the superior quality of the CD or if it's just a different master (probably that) I can't tell.
It definitely took some time before I could appreciate With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness fully since it's sound is a bit less "melodic" (or maybe more "raw"? Both don't really fit what I mean but you can most likely tell what I mean if you listen to it) than what came after it. It's one of my favourite albums of all time.
Additional listening: Star-Drowned, The Architects & The Burning Darkness
